Heartworm is a parasitic roundworm (Dirofilaria immitis) that is spread from host to host through the bites of mosquitoes. The heartworm is a type of filaria, a small thread-like worm. The definitive host is the dog but it can also infect cats, wolves, coyotes, foxes and other animals, such as ferrets, sea lions and even humans. The parasite is commonly called “heartworm” because the adult reproductive stage of its life cycle resides primarily in the pulmonary artery of its host where it can live for many years. Heartworm infection may result in serious disease for the host; infected dogs that are untreated may die and treatment also has risks. The best defense against heartworm disease is the use of CHF #72 monthly.
Hookworms attach to the dog’s intestinal lining, leaving bleeding internal wounds. This can cause blood loss, anemia, and diarrhea. As few as 100 hookworms can kill a puppy. Eggs pass through feces in an infected dog into the soil and can be easily digested. They can also penetrate through a dogs feet. Unborn puppies can also contract hookworm from their mother. Hook-worms have teeth like structures or cutting plates which allow them to attach themselves to attach themselves to intestinal walls and feed. By giving your pet CHF #72 Pet Parasite monthly it may lessen the risk of hookworm.
Roundworms belong to a family of intestinal parasites found in dogs of all ages, most commonly in puppies. Puppies get the infection from their mother before they are born. All female dogs, even the best cared for, transmit roundworms to their puppies. Once the pups are born, the immature roundworm completes its development and female roundworms begin laying eggs. Adult dogs become infected by ingesting infectious roundworm eggs found in soil or immature roundworms found in prey. CHF #72 can assist in the prevention of roundworms.
